A Peterborough print worker who allegedly strangled his wife to death has denied murder at the start of a trial at Cambridge Crown Court today (3 January). The court was told Michael Carroll (60) of Kings Road, Fletton is said to have killed wife Elisabeth in the couple’s living room at about 7am on Thursday, May 24 2012.
The jury heard how Carroll had become stressed about mortgage payments in the weeks leading up to Mrs Carroll’s death. Andrew Jackson, prosecuting, told the jury that while there was no dispute it was Carroll who killed his wife, he had pleaded not guilty to murder.
